A storm system in the central U.S. will bring accumulating snow, rare for this time of year, across parts of the central Plains and Upper Midwest on Thursday. As much as 6-8 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts of a foot or more in some locations, is possible. The snow is expected to continue overnight Thursday before tapering off on Friday afternoon across the Upper Midwest.
